EC Rejects Nomination of SP’s Varanasi Candidate Former BSF Jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav to Move SC

New Delhi: The commission on Wednesday cancelled the nomination of Samajwadi Party’s Lok Sabha candidate Tej Bahadur Yadav from Varanasi on grounds of ‘corruption or disloyalty’.

The statement issued by the returning officer of Varanasi, Surendra Singh, read, “A certificate issued by the commission to the impact that an individual having held office underneath the govt. of Asian nation or under the govt. of a State, has or has not been fired for corruption or for unfaithfulness to the State shall be conclusive proof of the fact: given that no certificate to the impact that an individual has been dismissed for corruption or for disloyalty to the State shall be issued unless a chance of being detected has been given to the said person.”

The district judge of Varanasi said, “A person who has been fired from service from state or central government among the last 5 years must get a certificate from the Europe stating he/she hasn’t been dismissed because of unfaithfulness or corruption. That certificate wasn’t created before 11am, so, the nomination was rejected.”

The former BSF constable said, “My nomination has been rejected incorrectly. i used to be asked to supply the proof at 6.15pm yesterday (Tuesday). we’ve got been told that we tend to failed to manufacture the proof before 11am as asked, whereas we tend to did submit the identical. My nomination was still rejected. we are going to move to the Supreme Court.”

His lawyer, Rajesh Gupta, conjointly aforesaid that they move the apex court over the rejection of nomination.

Equating the EC’s move with the BJP’s bid to prevent a former soldier from contesting against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, SP president Akhilesh Yadav aforesaid, “When they’re inquiring for votes within the name of nationalism, they must have faced a soldier. however will those who fired him from his job as a result of his complained regarding food may be referred to as real patriots?”

On Tuesday, the Europe served a notice to the SP’s Varanasi pol directive him to acquire a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Border force (BSF). The poll body had asked Yadav to file his response by eleven am on Wednesday.

Yadav was fired from service in 2017 once he discharged a video on the alleged poor quality of food served to jawans.

As the candidate representing the SP-BSP opposition alliance in province, Yadav was barred in a very high-stakes battle with Prime Minister Narendra Modi within the Lok Sabha body.
