Union minister and BJP leader Maneka Gandhi is facing a tough fight in Sultanpur Lok Sabha seat. As of 1:40 pm, Maneka Gandhi has secured 2,14,649 votes.
Maneka Gandhi’s rival, Chandra Bhadra Singh of the Bahujan Samaj Party has secured 2,10,241 votes, according to the Election Commission.
At the time of filing this report, Maneka Gandhi was leading by a thin margin of 4,400 over the BSP candidate.
Her result comes in contrast to the BJP’s overall performance in the Lok Sabha election. The BJP was leading with 296 seats as of 1:40 pm.
In Uttar Pradesh, the Bahujan Samaj Party was leading with 12 seats while the Samajwadi Party with seven seats.
Maneka Gandhi had won the 2014 Lok Sabha election from Pilibhit Lok Sabha seat. This time her son Varun Gandhi is contesting from Pilibhit and was leading by over 1.40 lakh votes.
