Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah met BJP veteran Dr Murli Manohar Joshi. “Dr Murli Manohar Joshi is a scholar and intellectual par excellence. The PM will meet another BJP veteran Murli Manohar Joshi later today. “We called on respected Advani ji. Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s wife and Samajwadi Party leader Dimple Yadav failed in her bid to retain the Kannauj constituency after losing it to BJP candidate Subrat Pathak by just 12.3k votes. It is for the first time in over two decades that the Samajwadi Party has lost from Kannauj. Both Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav had served from the constituency in the past.
After winning from Kannauj, Subrat Pathak said, “This is the victory of the people of Kannauj. This mandate is against Samajwadi Party’s atrocity, corruption and dynasty politics.”

The constituency was previously held by another BJP leader Alok Sanjar.

Former finance minister P Chidambaram’s son and Congress leader Karti Chidambaram aced the Sivaganga seat after defeating BJP’s H Raja by a heft margin of votes. Chidambaram received 3.3 lakh more votes than Raja.
In Telangana, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter and TRS candidate Kalvakuntla Kavitha suffered a setback in the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency as she lost the seat to BJP candidate Arvind Dharmapuri by a difference of over 70,000 votes.

In Mathura, Hema Malini was triumphant again. The Bollywood veteran defeated Kunwar Narendra Singh of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) by a margin of 3.3 lakh votes.
