Rae Bareli Lok Sabha 2019 results: Sonia Gandhi is relentless in-spite Congress’s gloom

Rae Bareli and Amethi have long been Congress’s bastions in Uttar Pradesh but the streak could be broken if Smriti Irani who is currently leading Rahul in Amethi, manages to win.

The Indian National Congress (INC) led by its President Rahul Gandhi has not managed to dent the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) grip on the Lok Sabha as the latter is currrently on course of a thumping victory in the Parliamentary Elections 2019. As of 15.20 pm today, the NDA was leading in 346 out of the 542 Parliamentary seats. But Rahul’s mother and former party President Sonia Gandhi has managed to gain a substantial lead in her contest in Rae Bareli.

With more than 3,50,000 votes in her favour till the time of publishing of this article, Sonia is leading BJP’s Dinesh Pratap Singh by more than 1 lakh votes and looks set to retain the traditional family-seat.

Rae Bareli and Amethi have long been Congress’s bastions in Uttar Pradesh but the streak could be broken if Smriti Irani who is currently leading Rahul in Amethi, manages to win.

In Rae Bareli however, no other candidate has managed to garner votes in five digits yet leaving the two national party candidates as the only ones in the fray.
