Uttar Pradesh Election Counting 2019 LIVE: PM Modi leading from Varanasi, Smriti Irani leading from Amethi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading from Varanasi constituency by 119762 votes while Samajwadi Party’s Shalini Yadav is on the second position by 32504 votes followed by Congress’ Ajay Rai who is on the third position by 20837 votes.

All eyes are on heavyweight battles in Uttar Pradesh that will set the course of the political future of the country in the next five years. Uttar Pradesh, with its 80 parliamentary (Lok Sabha) seats, plays a pivotal role in the formation of the government at the centre. The most populous state of India is also its most politically important state. By winning 71 seats out of 80, the Modi juggernaut in 2014 had decimated the Congress, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party.

As many as eight prime ministers of India (including Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Indira Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Rajiv Gandhi, VP Singh, Charan Singh, Chandra Shekhar) drew political life from Uttar Pradesh. To add to its importance, the current PM of India – Narendra Modi too went on to assume the office of the Prime Minister by winning the Lok Sabha seat of Varanasi in UP.

12:15 pm: Rajnath Singh leading from Lucknow by over 1 lakh votes​

Rajnath Singh is leading from Lucknow by over 1 lakh votes. Samajwadi Party’s Poonam Sinha has trailing with 78238 votes. Sinha was fielded from the state capital after she joined the party last month.

12:00 pm: Hema Malini leading from Mathura

Actor-turned-politician Hema Malini is leading by 66303 votes while Congress’ Mahesh Pathak and Narendra Singh of the RLD from Mathura constituency are trailing. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Hema had defeated Rashtriya Lok Dal’s (RLD) Jayant Chaudhary who is the son of Ajit Singh.

11:55 am: Rahul Gandhi trailing in Amethi

Smriti Irani leading with 43033 votes while Gandhi has trailing with 38615 votes. Amethi, which is considered a stronghold of the Gandhi family, has been represented by the Congress president since 2004.

11:35 am: BJP’s Rita Bahuguna leading by 21000 votes

The SP has fielded Rajendra Singh Patel from Prayagraj while the Congress has fielded Yogesh Shukla. Joshi was earlier with the Congress and served as UP Congress president from 2007 to 2012. She is the daughter of Late HN Bahuguna, the former CM of Uttar Pradesh.

11:25 am: BJP’s Manoj Sinha and Maneka Gandhi trailing from Ghazipur and Sultanpur

Union Ministers Manoj Sinha and Maneka Gandhi are trailing from Ghazipur and Sultanpur respectively. BSP had fielded brother of jailed UP mafia don Mukhtar Ansari.

11:15 am: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading by 144860 votes

The BJP is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a massive victory for Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi. In 2014, the PM had defeated Aam Aadmi Party’s Arvind Kejriwal by over 3.7 lakh votes and the saffron party is hoping to increase this margin.

11:10 am: Akhilesh Yadav leading from Azamgarh

Samajwadi Party president is leading from Azamgarh by 32757 votes while BJP’s Dinesh Lal Yadav is trailing. His wife Dimple Yadav, after trailing in the early rounds, was now leading in Kannauj and party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav was leading in Mainpuri.

10:55 am: NDA leading on 56 seats 

In 2014 general elections BJP and its allies won 73 out of the 80 parliamentary seats. In 2009, the SP and Congress got an equal number of seats (22) followed by the BSP (20) and the BJP (10). The UPA returned to power again and Manmohan Singh became the PM.

10:35 am: Smriti Irani leading from Amethi 

BJP’s Smriti Irani leading with over 4300 votes from Amethi. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Irani had given a tough fight to the Congress president. Amethi has remained a Congress bastion and the grand old party has been winning the seat since 1967.

Lok Sabha elections result 2019 at 10:55 am: In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP is leading on 54 seats, Congress on 1 while SP-BSP alliance on 20 seats. To take on the BJP juggernaut, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) decided to set aside their bitter rivalry of the past and forge a bonhomie for the Lok Sabha polls of 2019.

10:10 am: Ravi Kishan leading from Gorakhpur by 68606 votes

The BJP has tasked actor-turned-politician Ravi Kishan to reclaim the seat and to counter the SP-BSP alliance BJP’s monk-turned-politician – Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath campaigned extensively and the saffron party is expecting the Thakurs to vote for the party to take on Dalit-Muslim-Yadav factor.

09:45 am: BJP leading from Kushinagar by 6898 votes, RPN Singh on third position

BJP’s Vijay Kumar Dubey leading by 29565 votes from Kushinagar. RPN Singh who is popularly known as Raja Saheb of Padrauna served as a Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs in UPA government.

09:20 am: Rajnath Singh leading from Lucknow, Jaya Prada trailing from Rampur

Anupriya Patel leading by 7227 votes in Mirzapur. Jaya Prada trailing in Rampur while Rita Bahuguna Joshi is leading from Allahabad seat. Rajnath Singh leading by 45607 votes from Lucknow.

09:10 am: Sonia Gandhi leading from Rae Bareli by 19435 votes

Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua leading from Azamgarh. Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav is contesting from the seat. BJP candidate and Union Minister Maneka Gandhi trailing from Sultanpur, Sonia Gandhi leading from Rae Bareli and Varun Gandhi leading from Pilibhit.

08:55 am: PM Modi leading from Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading from Varanasi by 55049 votes while Samajwadi Party’s Shalini Yadav is on the second position by 32504 votes and Congress’ Ajay Rai is on the third position by 20837 votes.
