West Bengal: Another BJP worker found dead, protest against Mamtha banerjee

The body of a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker, who has been missing for two days, was found in Badhapukur, Malda, just a day after the party observed a ‘Black day’ in West Bengal in protest against violence in the state.

The deceased BJP worker is identified as Ashish Singh, aged 47.

The body had several wound marks on it and the matter has been initiated by the English Bazar police.

The BJP will start another protest in the state against the killing of its workers.

The saffron party, on Monday, had also faced a 12-hour shut down in Basirhat where the BJP and the TMC workers had clashed on Saturday.

Till Sunday, bodies of at least three persons killed in the clashes in Sandeshkhali had been recovered, while several others remained missing.

The BJP has claimed that five of its workers were killed, whereas the ruling TMC claimed that one was killed.

A day after the clash, the Ministry of Home Affairs sent an advisory to the West Bengal government, expressing “deep concern” over the “unabated violence” in the state and asked them to maintain law and order.

West Bengal government claimed the situation in the state was “under control” and there was no failure on part of its law enforcement agencies.
